Contributing to achieving a low-carbon society with highly-reliable manufacturing technologies

Demand for secondary batteries has been increasing, partly reflecting the need for the effective utilization of renewable energy and spread of hybrid vehicles (HVs) and electric vehicles (EVs). For these uses, batteries must be very safe and reliable, compact, high-power and have a long service life. This means that high-performance products integrating various factors are required. We have been working on secondary battery manufacturing equipment since the 1990s by taking advantage of our experience, expertise and handling technologies that we have cultivated since the 1960s through technologies for roll-to-roll press and automatic assembly equipment. We have also been providing pieces of equipment for manufacturing secondary batteries in certain shapes, including laminated, cylindrical, square and coin shapes, as well as entire assembly lines based on the factory layout. We will make further technological contributions to achieving a low-carbon society by advancing the development of mass-production technologies through collaborative creation with customers.

Product Lineup

Roll Press Equipment

This equipment is used to press rolls of materials used mainly for electrode materials of secondary batteries and capacitors. We provide equipment for press processing at high linear pressure with high precision. These elements are necessary to ensure the high density of electrode materials and uniform battery performance, which are essential for manufacturing high-performance secondary batteries. Therefore, we provide the equipment in accordance with customer needs. We improve the processing precision with high-precision rolls and a deflection compensation mechanism. We provide not only standard production line components, but also the entire production line, from unwinder to winder, based on the properties of the material handled by each customer and their request.

Electrode Stacking Devices

An electrode stacking device is used to manufacture electrodes of secondary batteries. It cuts electrode materials that have been pressed with roll press equipment into specific lengths and stacks the positive electrode, negative electrode and separator in layers. Compared to the winding method, which features high productivity, the stacking method is more advanced for improving speed. The fragility of the electrode coating and the method of handling separators, which are prone to wrinkling, determine the product performance. We have overcome these issues with our handling technologies cultivated in a variety of fields, thereby increasing the production speed. We can also make suggestions in accordance with customer requests, such as their desired method of stacking and size.

Automatic Assembly Systems

These systems are used for the automatic assembly of cells, a process in which manufactured and formed electrodes are inserted into a can case or laminate material and packaged. We provide systems for small and large cells using our extensive experience and technological expertise cultivated since the 1990s. Based on customer requests, we can suggest an overall assembly line in addition to automatic cell assembly systems as single units. We can also propose assembly lines that combine the assembly by machines and robot-based assembly as necessary . In addition, we offer manufacturing equipment beyond battery manufacturing.
